Fisher Price Kid Tough Waterproof Digital Camera
Kids always want a turn with our digital cameras, but ours are usually expensive and we fear our younger kids will break them. While children ages 8 and up could probably do quite well with a lower-end “adult” digital camera, younger kids need a digital camera they can call their own. Enter the Kid-Tough Digital Camera by Fisher Price. The latest version of the camera boasts more memory (64 MB of flash memory built in, but no longer does it have an SD slot) and a new waterproof feature.
All kids’ digital camera picture quality is poor, and this one is no exception. However, most kids don’t mind.
The controls are exceptionally simple, although some kids find the button for taking a picture a little hard to press.
Fisher Price Kid Tough Digital Camera - Pink
The camera comes in two colors–blue and pink. We suspect that’s a marketing ploy to encourage multi-children families to buy more cameras than they need, and would prefer the camera to be less gender specific.
Overall, however, this camera is our top pick in the “digital cameras for kids” category. There is definitely room for improvement in this marketing niche, but the Kid Tough Digital Camera series is a nice choice.
Pros:
- Very durable
- Easy to use
- Dual viewfinder means kids can see their subject without too much difficulty
- Picture quality is not great but acceptable
Cons:
- Comes in only pink and blue. We would have preferred a less gender-specific color so that siblings could take turns using the camera without issue.
- Poor picture quality compared to a lower-end adult digital camera.
- LCD screen is a little too small.
